Frequently Asked Questions
A. A personal chef offers the professional service of meal preparation. Each client's individual taste and diet determines his or her customized menu. These personalized meals are prepared in a client's home and then packaged, labeled and stored in the refrigerator or freezer.
A. State liquor laws prohibit MealThymes from providing any alcoholic beverages. We can, however, recommend wines that will pair with your chosen menu. MealThymes also works closely with several wine and beer purveyors throughout the area. Depending on where you live and what menu you choose, MealThymes will be happy to give you a list of wines to pair with your meal in information on where they can be purchased.
A. MealThymes' service includes an initial consultation to determine your specific needs. If you or a family member has specific dietary requirements, Chef Lauren will work with you to provide menus customized to meet your them.
A. The greatest thing about the MealThymes service is knowing that each and every meal is prepared fresh in your home. You know the day it was prepared and what ingredients were used. Meals prepared elsewhere can be done so far in advance, compromising flavor and possibly creating a food safety issue. This is one of the reasons why local health code prohibits personal chefs from preparing food in their own homes and delivering it to others.
A. I did it myself using Homestead Sitebuilder. It's easy to use, affordable, and there are many templates from which to chose. If you would like to design your own site, try it out but cliking below.
A. Absolutely! Any party you are having in your home can be accommodated, from a romantic dinner for two to an open house for 40 people.
A Personal Chef Service in Missouri
A. MealThymes provides service in the western Metro Area; including: West St. Louis, St. Charles, Franklin & Warren Counties. Other areas can be accomodated on a case-by-case basis.
A. Generally, for weekend service, two-to-three weeks is sufficient notice. Sometimes we can work with a smaller window. Since I come and meet you and see the kitchen before any service, we need to make sure there is enough time for this. As a general rule, I will not agree to any menu before first seeing the kitchen. Also, if you have a special date in mind, and it cannot be changed, you will want to book as far in advance as possible. For some events, people reserve the date 6 months in advance.
